Admission

All the programs at Alpha Arts and Science College are affiliated with the University of Madras, Chennai. The curriculum follows the guidelines set by the university and is regularly updated to meet academic and industry standards. All programs are conducted on a semester basis, ensuring a structured and comprehensive learning experience. The undergraduate programs at Alpha Arts and Science College have a duration of 6 semesters (3 years), while the postgraduate programs follow the duration prescribed by the University of Madras. The teaching methodology includes interactive classroom lectures, guest lectures by industry experts, self-learning modules, assignments, research projects, practical sessions, continuous assessments, and periodic feedback. Evaluations, both internal and external, are carried out as per the regulations of the University of Madras.

Our undergraduate and postgraduate programs cover a wide range of disciplines in Arts, Science, and Commerce, offering students a strong academic foundation and industry-relevant skills. Admissions to these programs are based on merit, ensuring that students receive quality education in a dynamic and enriching environment.

Eligibility criteria

  • Undergraduate Programmes:
    Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination of Grade X and Grade XII pattern conducted by the government of Tamil Nadu, AISSC, DSSC, CBSE, and ICSE, New Delhi are eligible to apply.
  • Post Graduate Programmes:
    Candidates who have successfully completed a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Madras or an Institution recognized by the University of Madras are eligible to apply.
  • Documents Required with the Application:
    • Passport-sized photographs:
      3 recent passport-size and 2 stamp-size photographs.
    • Attested Photocopies of the following:
      • For UG admissions: Higher Secondary Mark Sheet or its equivalent.
      • For PG admissions: Degree Mark Sheets and Degree Certificate.
      • Transfer Certificate from the last attended school/college.
    • Original Certificates should be submitted and will be returned after the completion of the course.
  • For Selected Candidates (Documents to be deposited with the college):
    • Higher Secondary Mark Sheet or equivalent
      (for UG).
    • Degree Mark Sheets and Degree Certificate
      (for PG).
    • Transfer Certificate from the last attended school/college.
    • Conduct Certificate from the last attended school/college.
    • Community Certificate for BC/MBC/SC/ST students.
    • Provisional Eligibility Certificate from the University of Madras (for students from other boards/universities in India or abroad).
  • Foreign students must enclose copies of the following:
    • No Objection Certificate from HRD, Government of India
    • Eligibility Certificate from the University of Madras
    • Valid Student Visa and Passport
    • Residential Permission to stay in India
  • The tuition fee for the course to be paid at the Administrative Office/ College Office.
  • Fees Refund Policy (Please refer prospectus)

    • MOOVALUR RAMAMIRTHAM AMMAIYAR NINAIVU PUTHUMAI PENN THITTAM All girl students who studied from Classes 6 to 12 in Government schools will be paid Rs.1,000/- per month directly into their bank account till the uninterrupted completion of their undergraduate degree.
    • TAMIL PUDHALVAN SCHEME All boy students who studied from Classes 6 to 12 in Government schools and Government aided schools in Tamil medium will be paid Rs.1,000/- per month directly into their bank account till the uninterrupted completion of their undergraduate degree.
    • MERIT SCHOLARSHIP TO SC/ST STUDENTS For Day Scholar Rs.9000/- to Rs.15000/- per Annum and For Hostellers Rs.15000/- to Rs.24000/- per Annum. The students should not have less than 60% marks in the previous academic year.
    • NSP SCHOLARSHIP FOR MINORITY STUDENTS Under this scholarship for minorities, students can get Rs.10000 annually to pursue higher education.
